I was recently at the Florida permaculture convergence when one of my dearest friends came to me and said “Mandalynn… it’s so amazing to see where you are now. Remember this time last year? Remember how fearful you were to go out into the world and pursue your passions? Remember all of the doubt you faced?” I was hit with the memory of us sitting together on my porch a few weeks before I went to Kashi, anxiety flooding through my veins, rehearsing to him all of the things that could go wrong and not work out…. … More Moving from Doubt to Trust
The thing is… I couldn’t have planned it. I didn’t even know how this would happen. Through the unfolding process, I have come to understand that the how is never our business. I set my intention for what I wanted my life to look like, not really having a clue on how to get there, and I pursued opportunities. I trusted the path, even at times when it was so unclear. When I look back, there were so many moments of fear, especially with leaving everything behind and not having a plan. We simply aren’t taught to trust. It’s something we either learn from our parents early on or we learn it on our own. … More How Did I Get Here?
I’m writing to say that my growth is not linear. The journey of spiritual growth and embodying our true essence is a daily practice. It ebbs and flows, rises and falls. We live within a society that is continuously accelerating and advancing at a rapid pace, but through this expansion we’ve overlooked many ways where we’ve created unhealthy patterns of pollution, environmental degradation, mindlessness, and social injustice. I’m not sure if it correlates with the evolution of my journey, but it seems it’s rapidly growing now more than ever. I suppose you could say it’s really trending. However, within these realms, are we truly taking the teachings and embodying them into our daily lives? Are we just talking the talk or truly walking the walk? Who are we showing up as? … More Who Are You Showing Up As?
Today in our environment, we are neglecting our soil, which is the basis for life to thrive. If we don’t have healthy soil, we don’t have a healthy environment for life to exist. In the garden, we end up with pests, plant diseases, and a lack of nutrients and water in our soil. Our plants … More Cultivating Fertile Soil
It seems that through many conversations and experiences I’ve had with others sharing their journeys, there are so many of us that are carving our own way. We see the affects of people following what they thought was happiness, but realized they were working towards someone else’s dream. We will finally come to a place of accomplishment and satisfaction when we retire… we just need to work 40 hours or more a week to get there. We find ourselves in the system of working to live, rather than living to work our own passions or dreams. It seems we can never catch a break because we’re always working towards different monetary goals. We work to get money to pay for a vacation to enjoy our lives… Isn’t that a bit backwards? Shouldn’t we be adjusting our lives to actually live in our passions and do what we love? … More Carving a Path for Yourself
